Accelerating innovation… in medicine was the wonderful overview given by Dr Eleanor A. Blakely from Lawrence Berkeley National LaboratorY – LBNL.
It is recorded on this video and joined very sensitive dots for me: on the way from CERN to LBNL I was passenger in a car accident that changed my life from diagnosing software to finding remedies for pain management as a lifestyle.
What CERN and LBNL have in common now is lack of funding. So I asked whether there is potential for joining forces. As I result, I have been working on this 3-page document: Accelerating Innovation in Medicine, Biology and Physics.
Otherwise, I am most pleased to have had the best possible overview of where life sciences @ CERN are at:
- there is quite a list of particle therapy centres where patients are being treated world-wide;
- they have in common a list of outstanding challenges that need to be addressed by global collaborations;
- Steve Myers gave the perfect summary of how CERN is going take the lead by addressing medical applications;
- medical imaging and particle therapy are the two topics of discussion.
